Owner and Pastry Chef - Janet Newton
The passion for baking and cooking started in childhood for Janet Newton. The long Christmas holidays she spent baking with Czechoslovakian family friend, Irene. During this time the family was provided with an endless supply of traditional tarts, slices, biscuits and cakes.
The wonderful love of sharing food with family and friends was born out of these one on one cooking lessons and is the inspiration behind the opening of The Yellow Door Kitchen.
Janet trained as Pastry Chef at the famous Le Cordon Bleu cooking school and has many years’ experience working in restaurants and patisseries. Her ability to combine flavours and her passion for baking is infectious and will ensure students are transported into a wonderful, creative world of cooking during her classes.
Italian Chef - Antonella Floyd
As an Australian-born Italian, Antonella discovered her love of cooking when she was a little girl. She spent many hours in the kitchen with her mother eager to learn and take note of the traditional methods and family secrets of true Italian cooking.
Today, Antonella still loves cooking and remains faithful to the traditional values, whilst combining authentic recipes and ingredients with modern trends, tastes and techniques.
As a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute, she has worked as a chef in a variety of restaurants. She has also produced and marketed a range of gourmet Italian products at farmers markets throughout Sydney.
Since 2008, Antonella has been sharing her knowledge and passion through her Italian cooking classes. She believes cooking Italian food is about achieving excellent flavours without it having to be difficult and always using fresh, quality ingredients.
Antonella’s classes are a fun, hands-on, personalised learning experience, where she shares her personal recipes, lots of tips along the way, a little about the Italian culture and you can even learn some Italian words while cooking and eating delicious food.
For lovers of Italian food, come and experience the passion and cook and eat like an Italian for a few hours. Buon Appetito!
Classes are held at The Yellow Door Kitchen Cooking School at 13 Bryant Street Tighes Hill NSW 2297 and some classes are also available at our specialist 'Pass the Parmesan' Italian Cooking School in Sydney.
During her career Janet has worked with some amazing chefs who will be sharing their skills and expertise in specialist master classes at The Yellow Door Kitchen.
